Each time I would answer or show interest. There was a couple of minutes in between each phrase, so I thought he was waiting for my answer. He said, if someone is talking, you wait a long time, quite a few minutes, and let them have their say. If you answer with anything, you are interrupting, and rude. I was actually, trying to not be rude by showing interest. Also, when I replied, he would say, scroll back and see how many times he said something. I don't know but if I have to interpret something to see if it is a different way of saying something that was said before, ten minutes ago, I would have to scroll back constantly. I have never had anyone say I was rude for answering them during a conversation. Are there rules for this?</TD></TR>

If you could only see one side of his conversation with the 'other' person, it is quite likely the other was chatting to him via "IM" (instant messeging). This in itself if very rude.
