I have a USB memory but when I connected it to my PC or DVD player it is not recognised. It has been lying about for a while, it is in the shape of a Transformers robot head and I think when we got it there was supposed to be a couple of films on it. As I say it is now not recognised and I'm wondering is there anything I can do to fix it, like perhaps format it. As it is not recognised I cannot see an option to format it.

Well, if your PC doesn't recognise it, I'm not sure how it will be possible to format it.
Memory sticks are two a penny. Why not just bin it?

It's my son's and he wants to use it cos it's Transformers. Also I just assumed it would be a quick fix by someone who knew what they were talking about.
You could try something thin, covered in cotton wool, and nail varnish remover to clean the contacts.
Have you got anther USB memory stick that you could try in your computer just to see if that is recognised? if it isn't there may be a loose connection in your card reader.

It is definitely the memory stick. I tried it on a laptop and pc and it isn't recognised and comes up as unknown device. There used to be a Transformers 2 movie on it but it could only be viewed for a certain amount of time. However, I think that you should be able to use it as a normal memory stick still.
