Getting Around A Web Filter

We have a fairly strict web filter at work (not strict enought to stop AB, though!) but I remember using a website/address that we could go through that essentially circumvented the filter and allowed us to view any web page or site we wanted that otherwise would have been blocked by the filter.

Does anyone know of such a site that will get around a filter (and that won't infect my work's network with the electronic equivalent of the bubonic plague?)

TIA

Ask the IT department to exclude the site you want to visit from the filter. if it's a genuine request they'll do it, if it's not then you shouldn't be visiting that site at work.
Remember if you visit a site that downloads a virus or malware your IT department are not going to be happy (it may even be a sackable offence)

Chuck, I probably shouldn't be visiting this site to ask you fine people about getting around the web filter...
Filters are usually put in place for a reason.

And, as pointed out breaking any security (which is what a filter usually amounts to) would be a sackable offence.

By a 3G phone and use your own air time not your companies.
in my job i hae to ask my it dept to unblock loads of sites for me - i think i'm only 1 of 2 people that are allowed on twitter/fb in my organisation - just ask them
