Windows Back-Up And Restore

I recently posted this but got no replies and thought that I caught you all on an OFF-DAY,or too much of the Xmas spirits,so I'm trying again.Thanks

"Each week I use the above prog. to keep my back-up.There was a green line that told me how far the prog had progressed but recently this hasn't appeared,can anyone please tell me how to get this visual aid back again??
Next question....some times when I close down I get to the screen showing "SHUTTING DOWN" but it doesn't. Is there any way of prompting this action other than switching off the power,as I have to do now??? Thanks! "

if its not shutting down theres pro a programme ruining
click on ctrl /alt/ delete/ that brigs up an option to see task manager you can see whats running on there if you want to stop it click on end task
