I use google toolbar on one of machines running win 98.

Seems to work fine.

Use the Firefox browser - it's pretty good at filtering popup ads.

Alternatly, use the dogpile.co.uk toolbar, it is easy to use, no ad-ware/spyware and I think more features and better features than the Google toolbar, I have tried that as well. And you can gaurantee the content is UK based.

Its honestly good, try it

I use a combination of

Firefox
Spyware Doctor
Microsoft Antispyware Beta

and i never get a single popup (rarely even ones that are supposed to pop up )

Apart from Firefox as mentioned above, a very good one if you use Internet explorer is a programme called "pop this"
