Zone Alarm Firewall

Zone Alarm ( free version ) keeps saying that security update is overdue.

The only thing that i can see is something that says 'update' .
When clicked, it does something , then it says ' product update: up to date '

However the message saying ' security update is overdue ' still remains .

Any ideas - has anyone got Zone Alarm ?

Uninstall it and put in MSE security essentials. I got rid of Norton security and put on MSE never had a problem since. Never need to be reminded to update it does it all on it's own and it is totally free.

MSE is an Anti Virus programme, not a Firewall so thats not acceptable.
What Windows O/S are you running ie, XP, Vista, 7 or 8?

I've got MSE installed already .

Zone Alarm is for a Firewall ( I don't think that MSE has a firewall component )

if your on win 7 use the default firewall but unistall first zone alarm the default is a good one for home use

I thought that Windows firewall was not reccomended / very good

I used to use Zone Alarm free and also got a paid for version because it was better than the Windows firewall, until Windows 7 came out.

Windows 7 own firewall is quite good and perfectly adequate for 99% of users. I now only use the W7 firewall. In my opinion, would suggest you uninstall Zone Alarm Free and enable the W7 firewall. I also use MSE as Anti Virus protection.

As I said, I have MSE and never even a hint of a problem in over 2 years now.

Should have said, I run W7 with the Firewall as well as MSE, NEVER had a problem .
