it seems that every time i install some software, it tries to get me to install one or all of the above ... i never do but i was wondering if maybe i should.

which is the best? what difference are they?
what benefits do they offer more than the browser toolbar?

i usually use google UK for search engine - as i have tried others and found it is best for me - but i dont know about the other 2 things.

any thoughts?

I dislike toolbars on the whole - they make the workable screen smaller but I do concede some people find them useful for very specific tasks.

I use a lot of different search engines within Firefox simply by clicking the little arrow in the search box and choosing the engine I want to use for that particular search - I have Google UK, Google.com, Amazon, eBay, Wiki, Chambers Dictionary etc.
I don't want a lot of different search boxes on my page, thank you.

In my view you are doing the right thing not downloading this unwanted and unnecessary stuff.

Chrome is my browser.
Google is my search engine.
Google search is set as homepage.
Bookmarks bar is the only toolbar I have.

Many free download sites now use a 'download manager' which you have to install first, this often includes cookies and toolbars.
Ignore the lot - take control and do what you want to do!

thanks

wilwood - i use firefox and google mostly but there seems to be all sorts of search bars and tool bars and homepages available

fred - as i said, i do ignore them...
but, my question is - are any of them any use... i want to know if any of them may actually be benficial
Toolbars put a group of tools together in a bar.

If you edit a lot of videos, a video editing toolbar would be of use.
If you need to translate a lot of different languages, a toolbar that has translating tools would be good.

So it is impossible to answer your question. We don't know what you do that would need a toolbar.

Same with search engines. A medical student would use a search engine specific to medicine but it would of no use to me.

Your home page should be personal to you. Some people have all sorts of gadgets and gizmos - the weather; the current times around the world; local news; email indicator; a financial index; calculator...

I choose to just have the google search box.

I suggest Total-toolbar for your requirement. We provide a custom toolbar development service which includes custom IE toolbar development, custom Firefox toolbar development and custom adware developments service etc. http://www.total-toolbar.com/custom-toolbar-development-and-features.php
