Nokia msg tone

I have a Nokia 3300 and have just downloaded a tone which is a .EMD file. I want to use it as a message alert tone but if I select it the tone plays continuously, not just once. I've noticed all the other message tones are .MID files so how can I easily change my .EMD to a .MID? I tried simply renaming the file but that doesn't work
