the touchpad on my laptop has areas that if you touch them they scroll etc - and i hate it - it drives me mad

is there a way i can stop this and just have a plain touch pad that does what i want when i want

i have looked in control panel and there is nothing there except the buttons

its an asus x54c, running win 7

Well, I've read the instruction manual and I can't see any reference to changing the way that the touchpad works:

You'll probably have to do what I'm planning to do with my new netbook (which has a touchpad which is incredibly sensitive). That's to spend £4.50 in Asda!

It's for a mouse. I use a mouse on my laptop - the touchpad was driving me to despair.
Yes, it's for a small mouse, with a retractable cable. I've given up on touchpads!

i have found it!. there is an option - much like the options in the link fitzer added, in the mouse section. I looked there and didnt notice it strangely.

so hopefully problem solved

it also has options to adjust the sensitivity of your touchpad and various other options, so maybe worth a try, so you can get rid of the mouse!
