why does my windows 2000 pc not work with ftp?

Try choosing "Passive Transfers" in your FTP software as you may be behind a firewall which is interrupting the standard FTP connection. If you have some firewall software (Zone Alarm etc) you could try temporarily disabling it and seeing if that works. If it is your firewall then you need to configure it to allow FTP transmissions through.

Thanks ge0dotorg. The PC is on a network, with and NT4 server and using proxy server. Other windows 2000 PC's on the network use FTP ok however mine and one Win 2000 PC will not. Must be some individual PC setting. I have tried passive transfers.
