You dont say what the trouble is.

If you have HD ready TV (which will have HDMI sockets) and your virgin box has a HDMI socket then it will be best to use a HDMI cable.

Surely the Virgin box and the TV came with setup instructions.

it scans ,then says no channels found.
Did your Virgin box work with your old tv?
Have you got the AV channel set to Virgin?
no channels found suggests the aerial lead isn't secure
If it's scanning for channels then it's assuming that you've got an aerial connected and it's looking for Freeview services. You need to tell it that you want it to display a signal from an external device. To do so, look for a button labelled 'Source' or something similar, or find the 'Source' selection within the menu. The manual should tell you how to do that; if you can't find it, please post again with the model number of the TV. (It's on the box and on the back of the set).

its toshiba 26dl933b.it was working ok on the old tv.ive connected it by the scart, seems to be in securely.
Normally at this point I'd go to the manufacturer's website, download the manual and find the relevant instruction for you. However Toshiba's website refuses to accept that your model actually exists!

I'm not easily beaten though, so I've just phoned Toshiba's support team to ask them where the 'Source' button is on your remote control. It seems that it's the one labelled with a circle with an arrow through it, underneath the '0' button. Pressing that should bring up the list of sources, so that you can scroll down and accept 'Scart'.
You do go the extra 10 miles, Buenchico
