Today Hotmail and Outlook have amalgamated so today there's a new format and I don't like it, its soo different to what I'm used to & Oh! how I don't like change.
I can't find what I'm looking for or how to do things that I'm used to with a click. Anyone else find it frustrating like I do?

mine changed ages ago - you will get used to it. I hate change too.
there are loads of people on here who will help you - including myself with very basic answers to get you started. One you will not find FORWARD - look for reply click on and look down and you will find forward - that was one of first problems. also contacts (all of them are now on the right side of site).
Yes I agree. It seems like everything I go on Facebook, Youtube etc. changes every other week and it always takes a while to get used to the new format and then they change it again.
I'm sure it's change for change sake most of the time.
Definitely Jem. Just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 on it and I loathe it!!

My list of contacts I am yet to find so as I can send several emails at once.
I can't type every add every time.
Also when sending in add bar I used to type 3 or 4 letters of add & it would fill in the rest, now it says 'not recognised' ggrrrr!!

Hi Jem,

I am going to move this thread to Technology where it will be more useful to others.

"I'm sure it's change for change sake most of the time."

Sometimes, but the recent Microsoft changes are moving all their platforms to one user interface structure/guidelines. Ideally you'll "get" Outlook, and then, when you use something else, you'll "get" that automatically.
"I can't type every email address every time."

You should be able to start typing their name in the TO section, offering you suggestions, and you can pick from there.

To see a full list of contacts use the down-arrow next to "Outlook" in the top left of the windows.

Click that and select "People"
"Definitely Jem. Just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 on it and I loathe it!!"

Why?

It's the same really. What are you struggling with?

The apps Ed - I don't do apps. And the screen when you go into things like ebay. It's so different and I don't like it and don't know how to change it. If they must change things why don't they at least tell you how to use them. I suppose it's just that I don't really understand technology.

I've just tested it out by sending a 'block' email but couldn't find the subject box.
No to worry, I'll find it somehow!
Alba the subject box on mine is above where you have written your e mail.
Mine's changed too, and I can't fathom how to log out!! Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks Wendi, I'll an eye out for it.

Hippy, click on your name and a box opens up to let you sign out.
"Mine's changed too, and I can't fathom how to log out!! Any help would be appreciated..."

Click your face (or whatever you have for a profile picture) in the top right hand corner. Sign out is at the bottom of that menu.
"The apps Ed - I don't do apps."

Yes you do - app is short for "application" i.e. if you've used internet explorer or Micrsoft word, you've used an app.

If you mean the "metro" apps, try "snapping" one like skype or the messenger "app" to the side of your screen by:
1. Opening the app
2. moving your mouse to the very top of the screen, until it turns into a hand
3. Clicking and holding, and then dragging it to the left third of your PC. Drop it there.
4. Press the Windows button and select desktop

I've found this kind of thing neat and useful. A bit like "snapping" left and right in the desktop mode (use Windows Key + Left or Right Arrow Key)

"And the screen when you go into things like ebay. It's so different and I don't like it and don't know how to change it."

When you go to the website, or when you open the eBay "App"?

If you'd like all links to open in a certain browser, set it as your default.

If you're using IE, and you'd like it to always open in Desktop mode, do this:

1. press Windows Key
2. type "opening links"
3. Select setting from the right.
4. Click "change how you open links"

The first section says "Choose how you open links" and from here you can set it to "always in internet explorer on the desktop"

"If they must change things why don't they at least tell you how to use them. I suppose it's just that I don't really understand technology."

When you started up using Windows 8 there's a 3 minute video which explains the basics. It's just clicking mostly :)

There's a little learning curve if you're not using a touch screen though!

Hope this is useful for you.
