I have a Fujifilm XP50 camera which records and plays movies. If I play the movie back on the camera, I get sound. If I copy the .MOV file from the SD card to my laptop, there is no sound. Every other programme I have that uses sound plays OK on the laptop. I have looked at all the volume control, they look fine. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks

It will be fixed in the 2.1 version of VLC... or you can download the latest development build of VLC and the audio should work. http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=103013

I can answer my own question! I converted the .MOV file to a .AVI file using VideoConverter lite and the sound appeared! In both cases I was using VLCplayer so obviously VLCplayer can't play sound on .MOV files but CAN play sound on .AVI files. Don't understand why, though.

It might also be worth trying GOM Media Player, which I think is an even better video player than VLC:
