Hi, has anyone used a VPN while abroad? I'm thinking of using one for a holiday in Malta and would welcome any feedback on them.

I have used one which is supplied by my employer on my work laptop so that when I am abroad I can have access to my files and drives etc The way it works is that you need access to wifi and then you can connect the vpn. Not sure what purpose you wanted one for. (I also when abroad use wifi connections with ipod to talk to people who have viber or facetime.)

Hi grasscarp. I want to be able to watch tv programmes on my IPad. Well OH does as there are times when you want to be indoors, so to be able to watch UK programmes would be great.

I did notice it let me use a UK bingo site which without it was blocked.

There are loads available. But the only ones that provide decent enough performance for watching TV cost money.

I used to use this one (if you go to the how to set up page, and scroll down, you'll find that the iPad is supported). You will, of course, need access to WiFi.

Apparently I can use my IPad through 3G as well as WiFi with a VPN. I've actually just found what I hope will be a good one. It's for ExPats anywhere abroad but can be used by anyone. Price per month is very reasonable so my give it a go.
