When I turn on my pc, it flashes the HP logo and then shows the white line flashing in the top left of the screen. This goes on indefinitely and will not load Windows. I have tried to go to BIOS settings (F2/F12) to try and boot in safe mode or last known config settings but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas guys?!

has it always done this? were you doing anything in, for example, the registry, before it started doing this?

thanks for reply. no has just started doing it recently. i thought it could be a hardware issue. i only use the computer to play avi and mp3 files and have not changed any registry settings etc

This could be a hardware problem.  What you're seeing is the bios setup going through it's start up phase, then memory chip should be checked, then the hard drive should kick in.
If you don't feel confident to open up case and check things out, get an expert to look at it.
One thing you can do is open the case and make sure all the hardware plugs are securely plugged in.  Also press the IDE cards and graphic card down to make sure they are firmly in place.
