It's almost time for my phone upgrade and looking at the specifications of each phone under connectivity some say wi-fi and others say WLAN, (the galaxy 4s), is there a difference between wi-fi and WLAN. Cheers, dougie.

Same thing, different name.

WLAN is the correct term (Wireless Local Area Network), wi-fi is a popular shorthand for this.
No, they are synonymous terms...
