Unlocking Phone

I currently have a contract with orange which is due to expire at the end of this month. I have already given my 30 days notice to cancel this contract.

I have just ordered a brand new phone and contract through a reputable website and the contract again is with orange. This is due to start soon. When I receive the phone I think.

I currently use an orange San Diego and plan to continue using this phone, therefore selling the new phone I've ordered.

What I would like to know is, as the new phone will be locked to orange, if I ring orange and tell them I want to unlock the new phone, ( the phone I plan to sell) is this possible and how long does it usually take?

I want to get the new phone unlocked so it makes it more valuable.
