Make sure it has a spell checking facility.

it all depends on what you want to use your computer for.

eg: if you are only using it for word processing etc... it doesnt need to be too powerful.

If you are looking to connect to the internet then you have to take into consideration the speed of your connection.

But if you are looking to play games you will need something that can handle a lot of information ver quickly and have a high end graphics card with a lot of processing power

If you are a gamer, look for a pc with the AMD 64 bit processor. If you are a downloader and want to burn your music/movies to disc, make sure you get a pc with a DVD RW drive and a big hard drive (200mb+).There are loads of deals around, but always double check the specifications because PC manufacturers have a habit of misleading people (e.g DVD drive means it can only play DVDs,you need a DVD RW to burn to disc).I know some people might nock them, but take a look at WWW.Tiny.com, they have some great deals.
The best piece of advice is make sure whoever sells you computer knows how a computer works - this rules out most high street stores. And if you buy a cheaper system with the idea of upgrading stay well away from Del. As far as processors go dont go for the latest fasted machine you'll be paying 100s more - same for graphics cards. Finaly remember that ram is more important that processor speed - 512 is the minimum for playing games.

I would suggest that a separate graphics card (as opposed to onboard graphics) was the most important requirement for gameplaying. Most apparent bargains have onboard.

Anyone who recommends a Tiny/Time PC really should keep their thoughts to themselves.
