MSU "critical objecs" - how to get rid of them!!

I have AdAware SE Personal which I use regularly to scan my computer for spyware etc and every time I scan I get these MSU critial objects found - I remove them then sure enough the next day I'll do another scan and they're back!  Any ideas how to get rid of this persistent and annoying spyware??  Many thanks!

Are you sure they are spyware.I may be wrong, but I thought MSU were the Microsoft Updates.If your system is set to automatically download and install them,then they will always appear.

Hi Teak36 - no I'm not sure if it's spyware - only that AdAware keeps picking them up as "critical objects" whatever that means! Would AdAware treat Microsoft updates as a problem? Thanks for your response.

Are you sure they're not MRU objects? These are "Most Recently Used" files that could be used to track your usage - if you had opened (say) a naughty picture with a giveaway title, even if you had securely erased the picture a record of its opening would be stored in the MRU list. The objects are safe to leave unless you are particularly paranoid or have something to hide.

if it is an MRU...you will get them just by surfing the web. You could do a spyware scan, then surf the net for 5 minutes, then there will be spyware again if you ran another test.

As far as I'm aware MRU lists arent critical anyway. Windows will store these MRU lists, and they can be removed in the registry.

I use AdAdware,and it counts "Tracking Cookies" as Critical Objects.As far as I know (I stand to be corrected) these cookies are put on your pc so that when you reenter a site it recognises you,and lets you enter the site more quickly.AdAdware just thinks you should remove these(I do) as they are safe? in 99.9% of cases,but it is covering for the 1% that isn't.

How embarrasssing!  It is MRU not MSU!! I'm glad it's nothing serious - I was just worried that it may be viruses or something running in the background or something else nasty!  Thank you everyone for your answers - I feel better now!!
