Recording Radio Programmes On Bt Vision

When I record radio programmes I am unable to fast forward them, and if I stop listening for a while, the programme goes back to the beginning, so I have to wade through everything that I have already heard.
I've looked on the BT Vision help site, but can't find anything.
No very technical answers please, you're dealing with a dinosaur who thinks she is clever to even go on BT Vision!!!
