A dotted line appears right across the laptop screen and it then freezes. It goes a greyish colour with lines across and won't come back on. I'm wondering if it is a problem with the connection where it joins the keyboard as sometimes the slightest movement seems to make this dotted line appear. Anyone got any ideas of what the problem might be and if it would be costly to repair? Thanks

If you have access to another outside desktop monitor plug it in and then try your laptop again .I f you get the same results on the outside monitor its more than likely that the graphics card on the laptop motherboard is faulty which will possibly mean a replacement but the cost will out way the
cost of a replacement laptop
My laptop also keeps freezing. I get the message "not responding" at the top of the screen and then nothing happens. I wait and wait and eventually have to sign out and do a re-start. Very annoying when I'm in the middle of something. I'm assuming it's because my laptop is old (6years). I do a disk clean up (daily) and defrag(monthly).

Thanks galeck1947 for your response. I tried connecting it to the tv when it next froze and all was as it should be on there. I take it that must mean a problem with the screen?
