Ipad And Skype

A friend of mine was on Skype last night using his Ipad, he could call me but when I tried to call him back he says he couldn't hear it ringing. I don't use an ipad but on my laptop I have a tool bar with "tools" and "options" then go into audio settings and adjust everything from there. he says he doesn't have any of those options and he was pulling his hair out as he has missed lots of calls. Anyone know how he can make his ipad ring on Skype! We checked the mute setting and it wasn't on as his speakers do work. Is this a common problem thats easily fixed?

Not sure if this will help but on the iPad settings tab at the bottom of the left hand side it will list all his apps. Go to the Skype on and there is an option to "Go Offline" and then time options and also "never".
My iPad is set to never and when my daughter calls me from her laptop a little notification drops down onto the screen and I do hear it ring if the volume is turned up.
Someone else may know another way.
