Strange Thing With My Landline

We have had a couple of strange occurrences over the weekend and now I have just spoken to a woman who says Virgin have given her the same number as me for her phone! I have had the number for 12 years. Spoken to BT rep who was unable to offer help, in fact, she treated me like an idiot. I hope the other line holder has more success with Virgin.

I've just googled this and found NOTHING! I mean I know that nothing is impossible but this appears to be. what usually has happen is that there is one digit different or transposed and that digit is an easily confusable one, so maybe eg 1 and 7.....please let us know what happens

An elderly relative of mine had a new Virgin landline installed and was given the number of a nearby builder who presumably was still using it. I only found out after we realised her number wasn't ringing her phone so she dialled my mobile from her landline and this strange number came up. I did a Google search and traced it to the local builder a few streets away, I dropped a note through his door to explain but as no one was in I never found out if he had our number. I did eventually get it sorted with Virgin but it took time and pretty much all my patience trying to understand and be understood their so called customer service. This was a couple of years ago and the call centre was in India ( I don' know if it still is) Anyway good luck, I think it's a pretty simple thing to sort out once you can get through to them.

I agree ; I er dont understand - that's what I agree about.

You dial WHItehall 1212 or whatever,
and it is answered, and the voice doesnt say - yeh, Plod central.

it says: Hi exotic massage services - we'll hit you, but not hit you with the Bill ! Teeth not straight ? We'll straighten them out right away !

or are there two voices - each one calling the other ?

please please explain
