Film Possibly Late 1970's Or The Eightes

I'm looking for a title of a film. A woman ( possibly art teacher as she carries a artist tube and this is found later in the film) has an affair with guy and meet in a hotel. They are caught and pictures are taken and they are blackmailed. I think her husband is a police man as he investigates her and finds that the hotel security are in on the blackmail scam. It is not the film derailed but similar, anyone have any idea? I know it was also available as a book.
