Hi not sure where to put this question, so came here :)
Had an old tv and used to get very annoyed when writing along bottom of screen use to be missing from the edges so decided to get myself a new widescreen tv.
So you can imagine I was rather p****d off when the same thing happened with the new tv ! Even with all the different settings you can have the writing still does not fit ! Can anyone enlighten me as to why that is?
Make and model of TV would help.
It just sounds like you have the TV screen ratio set wrong.
You should be able to toggle between the settings in the Setup Menu for Display.
On my LG widescreen telly it's always set to Original Ratio. You can switch between the ratios from Original > 16:9 > 4:3 > Zoom 1 > Zoom 2 etc etc. . .
I always tune in to BBC One when making any changes as some channels can confuse the broadcast ratio e.g. Channel 5.
Your new TV's screen is set to the ratio of your old TV. ie. 4:3. whereas it should be adjusted to 16:9 which is the accepted standard for wide screen TVs. Interesting is that the format for wide screen Laptops is 16:10.
There must be a simple way for you to adjust it. Please therefore note the opening sentence of Fanriffic and one of us might then be able to truly help in putting matters right if you identify your TV's make and model.
Thanks for your replys, have got it sorted at last :) Thumper you were right about digital box. Went into settings on the digi box and changed settings, now have full picture :) Great stuff, thanks
Hi bodeker....I am pleased that your problem has now been solved. Nevertheless, I am a little lost by your last post. Consequently, I pose the following questions.
a) Who is Thumper. He/She has Not said anything in this thread.
b) How come you still have to use a Digi-box with a modern Wide Screen TV.
