I agree. Sharing rule is not an option - but what may follow could be even more worrying. Ultimately the only conclusion I can reach is that they're all stark raving mad!

Not a climb down - rather a sensible pause for thoughtful breathing space.

But only after he's realised the opposition his original plan has generated.
so you want an attack then do you?
Pause for thought is not a bad thing, don't you agree?
Question Author
What makes you think that?

Naomi, no, I think it's a very good thing.
I realise that.

Great.
I'm not trying to make any political point here. Just keeping people informed of the situation.
Oops, cross-posted.
well you are using the PM's sensible position to whine about him, therefore you are just using this crisis to score political points or you really want to attack Syria. Which is it?
good to think about the consequences of what you do, especially when setting off to war; but yes, it is a climb down after the sabre-rattling of the last few days.
Zacs, .... but I'm pleased you think it's a good thing. I think that's straight now.
I see Major Major's in da house.
Douglas, who's Major Major?
Question Author
TTT, is it true that Mr Cameron has changed his mind? I think the word 'whine' is a little dramatic.
Wasn't he a character in the novel, Catch 22.
The whole thing is very odd. There hasn't really been any "sabre rattling" as such. In fact the tone has seemed very understated. ("We're going to lob a few missiles at him and hope it scares him so much he won't be a naughty boy again") which strikes me as daft, although it may actually be more sensible than that in reality. What has been sensibly re-thought is the timing. As it is the US may begin action while the UN inspectors are still there.

(There was a hilarious interview on Radio 5 today with someone called
Vyacheslav Shchekin of the Russian Duma (battier than a brush - not helped by his comedy accent!)
that was Major Major Major Major, wasn't it?
emotive language "climb down"! instead of perhaps "sensible rethink" - standard lefty procedure, partisan comments more important than substance.
