My contract is at an end, and I am thinking of getting a different phone. Torn between HTC One, iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S4. Thoughts anyone?

A friend got the HTC One recently, and it is very nice - more so than the Samsung Galaxy (which has a cheap feel to the plastic in my option).

The 5s is a nice object too. You can't go too wrong...
I've just bought an LG optimus II which is really good!
Watching this thread closely as i have the same decision to make.

ck1 - I hadn't thought about the LG phones. It's interesting that from both replies, neither has suggested iPhone. Do you think they have had their day?

Which magazine just did a review of Smartphones and said the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the best phone they have ever tested.

It also has a screen resolution of 1920x1080 which is the same number of pixels as my 24" desktop monitor (in a very small screen so the quality is amazing).
VHG's beaten me to it....the Galaxy S4 or S4 Mini are tops as far as Which? is concerned...just beating Apple's products.
Butlet. Your great grandchildren will be using their Android phones in their history lessons to Google what an Iphone was. (Android is a Google product and Google are going from strength to strength) The Iphone's days are numbered along with the Blackberry. Nokia looks to be struggling as well. Many of my friends are moving away from IOS to Android. Treat yourself to a Galaxy Note 3.

What gives that so many folk want to have Smart Phones.?

I have the cheapest of Mobile Phones (PAYG) and very rarely use it because, primarily, it is for emergency purposes.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, for Internet purposes a Smart Phone does Not have the same capabilities as a Laptop or Desktop Computer; of which I have both.

Al.

Pretty much the same. But the small screen can be a pain which is why much of the time a mobile version comes up instead of the version one sees on a computer. This site is pretty much a pain on a mobile.
maybe not, but they are easier to carry around :-)

samsung gets my vote but not virgin media (if you're looking at contracts) who have possibly the worst customer service ever
The only thing smart phones dont do is print. Apps on iphones seem endless with less available to androids.

Mine is iphone5s.
It might be worth waiting till samsung unveil the new phone with a curved screen in October if you wait a few more weeks. iPhone and Samsung are both amazing bits of kit. I can't chose between them :)
Tamborine. I have an app on my android that allows me to print over my network to my wireless printer.
