Anyone any idea ?
Not sure what you are asking. If you buy something on eBay the seller will be able to see your name and address for addressing the parcel once you have made the purchase.
SonnyCrockett, you need to be more specific as to why you are asking the question and what you want.
It's a bit tricky for people who sell on ebay to send something to a different person at a different address. For example, say SonnyCrockett buys a book from Fred Bloggs. Sonny then asks Fred Bloggs to send it to: Samantha Something, at 123 Smith street, anytown.
If SonnyCrockett then complains to ebay that he didn't receive the book, Fred Bloggs may have to reimburse the money as when Sonny paid for the book, Fred was told to send it to SonnyCrockett at (his address).
I think you need to explain in a bit more detail.
Are you selling an item, but delivering it to a different address (ie not the buyer's registered address) and you're wondering if the buyer's address will appear on the package when it reaches the delivery address ??
That's how I interpret this question ??
I didn't realise this was allowed - surely it opens the door to fraudulent buying (I.e. fraudster hacks into eBay account, purchases item using this account but diverts item to their own address)

If you are buying it for a friend, I don't see why you can't have it delivered to your address and then give it to your friend?
Yea, it is very likely to include invoice or delivery note giving your details.

Winner - no its complicated, i need to have it sent to the friends house
Question Author
would my postal address show then ?
Is it a very large item?
Question Author
no, its clothes
It all depends on the seller. I always send a despatch note with the item to my buyers, which shows mine and the buyer's address. Not all sellers use the despatch note system, or some put it on the outside of the package in a clear sleeve showing the remittance address. If you want it sent somewhere else you have to ask this specifically, and you could ask the seller NOT to put in a packing slip.

Seems odd, though, that you want something sent to your friend but not to tell them who's ordered it? I don't understand why you would do that. If something came to my house that I hadn't ordered, I'd send it back.
yes, buy it, have it delivered to yourself at your address, then unpack it, repack it and repost it to said friend
I take it you haven't been trading on ebay for very long.
If I was the seller and you bought some clothes from me, I would send them to you.
If you asked me to send them to your friend, I wouldn't.
Ebay/Paypal give me your address.
You bought them and I would send them to you.
Otherwise, I leave myself wide open to giving you the money back if you don't receive them.
Sorry but I would refuse to send stuff elsewhere as well. I have a feeling that it may not be allowed by eBay either.
That is quite true. The contract with eBay specifies that you must post the item to the buyer address which they provide to you, and which shows on the despatch note. However, I have in the past occasionally sent to another address when there is a good reason (e.g. something was bought for a birthday present from me and they asked if I could send it to the birthday person).
woofgang, I was asked this once. I sold an item and was asked to post it direct to their friend, as it was a present. When I checked the addresses, the seller was classed as the UK, but the friends address was classed as Europe and the postage was twice as much.

I said, I would do it if they paid the extra postage. They declined. They were obviously trying to "get away" with me paying the postage to get it to their friend. It didn't work, and I am now aware that this goes on.
