How Fast Is A Intel Celeron 1007U 1.5Ghz Processor?

I am buying a new Asus laptop for my partner to replace her aging Acer one. The old one had an Intel T7500 Dual Core pentium 2.2 ghz with a geforce 8400m gs graphics card and 2gb of ram with Windows Vista. The new one has the above Celeron chip and 4gb ram and Intel HD Graphics 4000 and Win 8. She is not a gamer but watches video and listens to music via spotify and browses the web and does social media etc . Is this laptop going to be appreciably quicker than her old one? I hate to think i have got her something thats going to be slower than what its replacing. Many Thanks!

Win 8 is faster/better than the cronky old Vista too - can take a bit of getting used to, but is well worth it.

It'll feel faster - almost everything feels faster than Vista :)

Depends if she's a grumpy so-and-so or not :)

Get to to install the iPlayer, Itv, 4OD and 5 apps and she'll be most of the way there without having to learn very much at all.

I believe there's also a spotify app.

too old to take 4gb, the old lap top iss on its last legs... ie the screen is geting darker because the backlight is failing and its dead slow anyway. would have preferred win 7 for her. Can you make win8 to look like win7, ie strip out al;l the bels and whistles like the tiles for instance?
