I submit the meter reading - the inverter is in the attic, meter is next to electric meter.

Out of interest do you actually make money from these panels, I know the F.I.T has dropped to .14p I believe it was .425p so are they still profitable to fit when they cost £10k to buy? I had a cold call the other day extolling the virtues of them but I asked if she had actual figures from a user of the panels and she didn't, end of call.

If you can get them fitted for around £7k and they run fault free for around 12 years, you may break even.You need a good insurance back up because if a panel fails you will need scaffolding.......and if an inverter fails you will need £1200...thus pushing the break even point further into the distance.During the days of 42p/unit I could have done mine for £3700 but did,nt want to destroy the look of the house.

I've just been quoted a 10 year maintenance package on 16 Bosch panels with individual inverters for £10,000

With FIT at 14p a KwH and sell back at 4p+ (index linked) plus potential to use a reasonable amount of the generated power (we are big users of gas and electric) it seems to break even from day one.

Any other factors I should consider?
