Skype Problem

Re my query earlier today, I can log in to my Skype page but I'm still getting the message 'Skype Home unavailable'. When hubby logged in to the program yesterday he says an update installed itself. Possibly malicious?
I'm thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Would this work or do I risk losing Skype altogether?

I've gotten that message before but it doesn't effect my ability to use the software and my laptop is fine. Interesting yours updated itself however, I am always prompted to allow it.
