Just been looking at soundbars and Which? 2nd in the Best Buys is hundreds of pounds cheaper and is a bargain... http://is.gd/4W5sOQ

It might be only members only but from the test...

Pros: Space-saving design, built-in dual subwoofer, USB recording and playback, lots connections, height adjustable, low energy use

Cons: High frequencies sometimes lack refinement, can't be mounted on a wall
Interestingly, Richer Sounds want the £119 that Which say, but Amazon want from £157-225 so I know where I'm going!
Using 'Menu' on Remote, go to the Sound facility where you should find different settings in order to vary sound quality on TV.
If you cannot get better than 'Tinny' sound then your TV is not so good after all

answered my own question..! thanks jomlett for your help, i do also subscribe to which so that was one of my roads of choosing. redman41. all new flatscreen tvs have tinny sound as i,ve been informed by just about every store sales person. just bought a brand new, just released, denon at £249, bit pricey but......WOW.....
I have a Philips sound bar...............love it.
If you have bought a 42" TV for £249 you really cannot expect good sound quality as it's bottom of the range, so a sound Bar should help your cause. The Sales assistants in these Stores often don't know what they are talking about if they are telling you that all Flat Screen TV's have 'Tinny' sound.
We have a Flat Screen 40" Sony and the sound is superb. On top of that we have a Home Cinema system as well which we only need for DVD's.
