I have noticed recently that on my laptop on AB that certain words are in green and underlined in many questions. Makes no sense to me.

Seems you have something else running int he background doing that. Do you have a spell checker on ? Or maybe it's advertising malware. Give us a few examples.

The question just below this one, the words living room are in green and underlined for no obvious reason.

Now in my original question the words underlined are underlined and in green, and the words living room in my answer are also green.

ah when I clicked on the green words underlined, a page for dealshark (?) came up and said click to continue??? How do I get rid of this please.
It is a spellcheck. It seems that the computers of the world do not thing that 'livingroom' is a real word and that it should be 'living room'.

It also picks you up for leaving too many spaces between words, letters or sentences.

Right click and 'add to dictionary' if you wish to eradicate the correction of a certain word.
Must admit, I find it particularly annoying when prompted to use an American spelling of a word.
I wonder if there is a preference somewhere you can alter to English spelling?
Flavour is an example, I do NOT want to spell it flavor.

When I hover my mouse over the green words, a square pops up asking me to take a survey for Better ads, I've scanned it 2x with malwarebytes and deactivated these ads previously, am stumped.

Oh I think I've sorted it, went into control panel, and saw something called better surf which I haven't seen before so uninstalled it and all appears OK now, fingers crossed! Thank you all.
might be malware, then. Can you download Malwarebytes and scan?

Just the free version should do.
oh well, my advice was useless as you have malwarebytes anyway, teach me to read before I post.

Good night Jno!
netibiza, I had the same problem up to yesterday, it was so annoying, I noticed on every new tab a name of a website showed up, I use chrome and windows Vista, first I checked for add ons in settings then went to control Panel and uninstall program (with my fingers crossed) and uninstalled the website I just noticed, I've not had blue underlined words since, they were so annoying - I'm so happy it wasn't just me had the problem.

Ducksie, at first I didn't really notice and then I was getting advert gaps between answers which I knew weren't right, took me a while but hopefully it's sorted now.
mine was the same, I knew it wasn't normal, so I thought, I'll try fix it myself, if not, I'll get onto someone here, I knew there'd be an expert about if what I did was not working, I forgot to mention, I did a full scan on my computer after, I use Microsoft essentials (MSE) so it's all cleared up now thankfully
I was just thinking there netibiza, had I asked for help with my problem it may have solved yours earlier as obviously it wasn't a spellcheck problem. I'm so glad you brought it to light
