...would you choose? My BT Paragon 500 has just died - it was the best phone I've ever used & I'm sad to see that I can't get another one, as it's long been discontinued.

I want a phone that will allow me to record my own outgoing message for the answer machine, that has battery back-up in case of a power failure, with a decent LCD display & that isn't white! If it has "instant dial" buttons, that would be nice, but the old phone didn't have them, so it's not really an issue.

I've been searching the Net & have found a couple that might be ok, but would appreciate any input from other AB'ers about their experiences with this type of phone.

As always, thank you for your time & attention.

do you mean corded or cordless, ones where you can walk around the house with it. If so go for a Panasonic, i bought one that had three handsets, and answerphone attached, not a large clumpy thing, and easy to understand instructions.
Is there a reason you are against having a cordless phone?

If not you will be opening up many more opportunities for a good phone.
the one with the answerphone is the lead phone, and other two pick up the signal, so no need for more wiring, read the link, i was pleased with mine.

Hi emmie - I mean corded, I hate cordless phones, the sound is rubbish IMO & a corded phone is more secure - not that I've much to be worried about if overheard! :-)

I'll never need to be walking around with a phone to my ear, I only use it at my desk
the sound on mine is good, but ok...
I have always had Panasonic, and found them very good.

Thank you all for your answers - cordless phones & I have never got on well, unfortunately.

emmie - that's one of the models I was looking at :-)
seems decent enough. I like my cordless phones, they are good quality.
