Chain Emails

I got a couple of these this morning, A friend had forwared on those (send to ten people or you will have bad luck) mails, what exactly are the point of these? I'm not normally superstitious and havent sent it on but it really annoyed me when I got it and put me in a right mood.so back to the question what it the point of them?

There isnt a point, some people have nothing better to do.

Some of them contain viruses and spyware.

As quickthinker mentioned, these are often used to spread spyware and viruses etc. but they also slow and clog up email servers and can cause disruption that way.
