Dvd Gets Hot.
6 Answers
Just spent a couple of hour plus, watching a DVD, on my Mac.
Ejected it, and it was remarkably hot, not just warm, can this be ok?

I asked the Mac geeks forum about this as it seems a common problem. They said it is because the Mac design has the DVD drive so tightly packed inside the Mac's carcass that it together with the 'drive engine' operating the Mac generate a lot of heat and that transfers to the disc. It is just one of those Mac things.

I too have noticed that after playing a DVD film on my PC, that the disc is very warm. The laser power used in such drives is less than 1/4W which would not be sufficient to cause the level of warming observed.
Therefore I assume that the disc had been warmed due to the heat given of by the electric motor (within the drive) – but I have no proof of this.
