My mobile only seems to ring when I get a call from a landline. I have just discovered it doesn't ring when called from another mobile.

Well, that seems to be what is happening though it didn't when I first bought the phone a few weeks ago.

Is this a fairly normal occurrence that I can rectify by looking for a button to press before I go wandering around the settings looking for one?

It doesn't sound normal -- possibly a settings thing. Wander round looking for the call alert settings.

Do you otherwise know that you are being called -- does it vibrate, does an alert pop up on the screen?

Hi, Jim...didn't know til this morning when a friend in hospital sent a text asking if I was free for a phone chat in five minutes.

No call so I opened the phone....which I was holding and found a missed call from her minutes before....I called her and she said it had gone straight to voicemail.....so I guess I have to hunt for something to change.....bums!

I also saw lots of other missed calls on the list and one was from the plumber to arrange his next call.....don't want to miss that....☺
You could try switching off voicemail...
