I understand what cookies are, but what is the benefit of clearing, or not clearing them?

I generally clear my cookies on a very regular basis just from a security and habbit point of view. I dont use any special software, just the settings in the Internet Web browser (go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. From there, under the General tab you can do all the maintenance).
