Hi i dont have a bt line or intend to get one. I have however moved to a street that is not cabled, therefore i am unable to get NTL. Does anyone know of a broadband provider that does not require a bt line? Also i am hearing about wireless technology, i have a bluetooth fone and was wondering what would be involved with connecting via my mobile???

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Hi there,

Unfortunatly at the moment you have to have a phone line (BT being the main supplier) in order to get Broadband internet in the UK. There is increasing pressure on BT to allow what is being reffered to as 'Naked Internet', in otherwords getting internet without the phone line. You may find the following couple of links useful in learning more about this, the first one summarizes the current situation and the second is a better guide as to how to get Broadband connected:

In terms of wireless access, Bluetooth is a method of connecting devices together. If you went down this route you would then need to pay via your mobile subscription for your connection to the internet. Unless you have a 3G phone this is going to be extremly slow and if you do then you will pay significantly more than you would if you were using ADSL. My advice would be to accept the fact that at the moment youw ill require a telephone line in order to get Broadband. Depending on your usage, you can get Broadband from around 12 a month, the website line below may be of use in finding a provider:
