Keyboard Shortcuts in Apple Tiger

Can anyone tell me how to disable the default keyboard shortcuts in the Tiger OS, please? Changing the commands in keyboard and mouse preferences list doesn't appear to address the conflicts in, for example, Quark Xpress wherein the Apple shortcuts over-ride those of the application. A minor problem, but an irritating one.

Not sure it can be done. The command Z for Zaph Dingbats is a distant memory unfortunately.
I'm using Panther but essentially it should be the same.

Got the blue apple>System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse. You can then change global keyboard shortcuts.

I've had the same probs where Quark keystrokes are the same as the OS ones.
