Copying Url For A Direct Link
8 Answers
When I copy a URL from a web page into an email, it does not highlight blue and so the recipient of my email has to copy and paste into the address bar. Is there a way to highlight so that they can click directly onto a link? I use Windows.

Plain text is just that, simple plain text with no fonts or formatting or colours.
Rich text can support colours, fonts, hyperlinks etc.
Check your email settings and make sure you have not got it set on plain text and if so change it to rich text or whatever the other option is called.

It's the recipient's email client (or web browser, as appropriate) that 'recognises' a web address and converts it into a link, so the problem would appear to be 'at their end', rather than at yours.
However, that assumes that you're actually sending them the full URL. It's essential to include the 'http' bit, otherwise their email client (or web browser) won't identify it as a URL.
For example, this isn't 'clickable':
www.theanswerbank.co.uk
but this is:
http:// www.the answerb ank.co. uk

When you say that you are copying an URL, are you actually copying and then pasting into an E/mail, or are you typing it in word for word.
Please post again and say if you are using the standard method of :-
Right click onto the URL to highlight it, and, in the menu box that opens, click 'copy'. Open your E/mail message which you are preparing and left click so that the blinking cursor is placed a line or two below your typing. Then a right click will open a menu from which you select 'paste'.
Hans.

VHG - setting is rich text. Buenchico - I am including http. Hans - I am highlighting, copy and paste onto email. :(
The problem started a few weeks ago when the Outlook page changed. It became 'easier to use' apparently. I have just noticed there is now an 'insert hyperlink' icon at the top of the page which enables me to insert a blue link. Bit of a faff really, but it seems to be the only way to do it. Thanks to everyone for your help.
