If my phone is crackling and hissy and my internet keeps disappearing is it likely to be a fault at my end or with BT?
The phone gets no better but the internet returns if I switch the hub thing off and on again.
Just need an idea before I phone them and get into a conversation that has some poor soul tearing his hair out....☺

Thanks...Gx

I've had that problem, at first Orange said it was a faulty router amd sent me a new one, same thing happened, then after another two new routers they decided it was a BT fault.
BT came round and checked the phone sockets and tested the line, no fault found, in the end they said it was probably a fault at the exchange but thankfully it's cured now.

Thanks, Chris.....I will do that rather than get involved with them first... the last time I had a problem they were a pain to deal with.

Thank you, Elvis too....I expect to go round the houses before it's fixed..☺
Get an iPhone gness, son passed his old one to me and I'm addicted to it, still learning, though

Shout away, Methyl...gone deaf again.
Thanks for that but I did replace those with new ones thinking...well someone told me....that would perhaps help but the problem still exists.
Gness, had this problem myself a few years ago, tried altering all my internal wiring and connections, no change. It took about 7 months of complaining to B.T. to get them to accept the problem was with their stuff, in the end they get a chap out, he changed the cable from the pole to my house, problem solved. Good luck petal.
I had a similar problem which was sorted when I replaced the ADSL filter so I think I would try replacing that first. To get BT to check is only free if the fault is theirs. They have a rather hefty call-out charge if the problem turns out to be with your phone or computer. You might find that they're reluctant to come anyway. I get my phone and broadband from BT but trying to get them to investigate when I had a problem was a pain. The BT phone line and BTBroadband are two separate companies, or at least act as if they are, and each blamed the other for the problem so weren't happy to send out an engineer. Apparently it was all to do with who would be paying for the engineer's time.
Good luck Gness. I suspect it may be you that ends up tearing your hair out. Whoever you speak to, will likely be in India, and will no doubt follow the script and have you pressing this button and that knowing full well that it's a waste of time.

Thank you, both....the filters have been changed and I am reluctant to get involved with BT if I can help it.....I have problems with understanding when my hearing is fine.....doing it while quite deaf could result in my arrest....
Fingers crossed......☺
