Help On Making A Vista Recovery Full Back Up Image Disc

on windows vista I have a option in control panel recovery backup. to make a full system ige backuprecovery disc. if I make this disc on vista will it work from booting the disc from start up or do I need a start up disc also. Prob I have is im used to win 7 and it lets u make a start up and recovery discs but vista doesn't seem to. has anyone ever done this and basically after I make my full recovery back up discs how do I use it please. as is it just case boot disc 1 from startup and it just automatically works or is it not that easy. please help
