Panasonic Dvd Recorder Dmr -Hwt230

I have recently purchased The above and found it to be an excellent choice. However every time it is switched on I get the same message ie There are additional channels to be saved press OK. There are no extra channels- I have got them all. How do I get rid of this message

I`m presuming you have a Freeview tuner in the DVD recorder. Every time there are new channels on Freeview (which seems to be quite often these days) the tuner is trying to store them. Have you tried pressing OK when this happens? If you do, it will go through a process which takes about 3 minutes and the new channels will then be available.

Thank U. Yes I press OK every night but the channels remain the same.There surely cant be new channels every day. The numbers at the bottom of the screen tell me that they remain the same each evening

My TV has a Freeview tuner as well, although I get the signal from the DVD recorder because that is where is aerial is routed through. Have you tried pressing OK on the TV when it says that there are new channels? You have to do it with both the TV and the DVD recorder when you get that message.

are you in range of 2 transmitters? you might be getting a signal from both.

I had this problem with my Panasonic DMR-EZ48VEB which I know isn't the same as yours but I guess the on screen display menus are similar.
If you go to the "Set-Up" menu and scroll down to "Display" and then to "New Service" I think you'll find that the default setting is "Auto". Change it to "Off" and you should get rid of the annoyance. (I hope!).

^^^ The Display Menu option may say "Add New DVB Services". If you click on this, you'll see the default OFF.

You can disable automatic channel updates in the menu can't remember exactly where I have an older version and it's worked faultlessly

The manual for the HWT230 says:- (Page 66)
go to SETUP | TUNING | New Channel Message

Similar to what I said initially but slightly different words!
