Hp Ink Cartridges
14 Answers
finally have a new printer which takes HP 301, two cartridge, black, colour
i don't want to mess about getting others that might work with the printer, as did that with other printer and it stopped working, might just be it packed up, so any place cheap enough to buy the HP 301 that you can help with.
i could google it, but perhaps you have a supplier that's good, other than say Curry's / PC world

My HP printer, HP Deskjet2050A, takes HP 301 cartridges, and while it was under guarantee I did use genuine HP cartridges. Now I use compatible cartridges from Asda, and I can see no difference from the HP ones. Admittedly I've yet to buy a colour cartridge, but when I need one I think I will go back to Asda to purchase it.
My HP Printer is about five year old and, apart from the original sample cartridges which came with the machine, it has never had genuine HP replacements. It's a myth to believe that only the Printer's manufactured products should be used. Quite often compatible cartridges are even better, because they are likely to contain more ink.

Emmie, Just out of interest. My HP F4580 printer (now over three years old) remembers a number which is built in to the individual cartridges.
The printer can remember two black numbers and two colour numbers. If a cartridge is removed, it is possible that the printer thinks that the cartridge is now empty and won't allow it to be replaced, consequently you need to replace it with a new cartridge. This also stops you from refilling the cartridges unless you know the way round it.
It could be this "memory for numbers" which causes the problems with non-HP cartridges.
Just a thought!
