Text Photos On Galaxy S3

I have often been texted photos on my S3 but I have never got them to open. I get the option to download and then just get a horizontal blue/white progress bar and it never finishes. Is there some setting I need to do? It's a contract phone if that makes a difference.

Prudie, I can't remember what I do, there's no pic in my inbox at the moment - but I know I press the button bottom right which brings up an options menu, it's one of those - I think I save to my pictures on the phone, and view it that way.

Can't find anything like that boxy, I have noticed they are all 29KB which seems large to me. They are all pictures taken with another galaxy.

Is use packet data ticked? Under settings / mobile networks?
