Oldish Printer Wont Work On Usb 3??
6 Answers
i have an oldish printer that is compatible with windows 8.1
it scans ok but when i try to print it doesnt seem to recognise the pronter properly - it knows its attached, it lists it as a printer but seems to just thinks its a spare hard drive for some reason!
i troubleshooted and it says it is because i have usb 3 and it will only work on usb 2!
so can i just put an older adapter in to make the 3 into a 2?
or is there some other way of doing it? i have used older printers than this with no problem
its an epson cx6400
thanks

thanks all
methyl - i did try to, but it wouldnt do it because the printer is showing up as a drive (even though its a pic of a printer, and it says its a printer in properties)
i tried to udate it in device manager but the option wasnt available
graham - no its the cable that came with the printer - i assume it must be a 2.0, as my laptop is 3.0 (i thought i had one of each, but it doesnt work in either...)
i did check before i bought this that is was compatible with my laptop
i will try it with windows 7 tomorrow
but any other ideas why its not registering it properly?
i will try with a 3.0 cable, if i can find one 'just in case'
