Go to http://www.download.com and search for "Ad-AwareSE" and "SpyBot Search & Destroy". Download and install both of them, update them using their internal update programs and then run them both - seperately.

Then go to http://www.javacoolsoftware.com and download SpywareBlaster, install it and update it and enable permanant protection. Then you should not only be much more protected against spyware, but should you get any you have adequate means of removing it.

I have downloaded Ad-aware, CWShredder and Skybot search and destroy, but I've still got this blooming Searchmeup.com on my PC. Nothing seems to find it or destroy it. So don't expect any of the virus finders to perform miracles.

Don't want to sound neg, but it seems the only way to get rid of this infection is to take pc to computer wizard for him to deal with.

I get the impression that these Cool Web Search thingies are getting nastier by the day. Starting to think it's not worth going on the interweb.

if you have win xp you can download Microsoft antispy

it's getting better but it is free.

just remember to set the scan options to in-depth testing
