DSL currently comes in three flavours for business and one for residential : They all have a 256Kbps (kilobit, not kilobyte), and come in download speeds of 512, 1024 and 2048Kbps. Cable comes in two flavours, 512Kbps download with 128Kbps upload, and 1024Kbps download with 256Kbps upload. Both have contention ratios but on the whole I've found that the ping (response) times are quicker on cable, but the overall raw speed is quicker on ADSL.
