Lap Top Audio Query

After inserting my dvd into my lap top I am not getting no sound, only the picture. The volume is turned on full. Anybody know why?

This might sound like a daft question, but are you sure the sound works on your laptop ??
Try sliding the sound bar up and down (located in the bottom right hand corner). Do you hear anything when you do this ??

Ive tried sliding the sound bar up and down and it is full on 100! No noise whatsoever. All sound stopped a few hours ago for no apparent reason. I usually use my lap top with no attached speakers, but I have tried at connecting my speakers but still no success. And it is NOT on mute either!!! Thanks for your help anyway.

I think you misunderstood me.
Don't put the DVD, just slide the sound bar up and down with nothing running or playing. I'm trying to determine whether the sound works on your laptop or not.
When you slide the sound bar up and down, you should hear it bleeping as it moves up and down.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. 'ELP!

Ok here goes:
Go into control panel >>> device manager. Scroll down to sound (mine says, "sound, video and game controllers" ... I'm running Win 8 ).
Open it up by clicking on it - are there any yellow question marks next to any of the items?? Mine has 2 items named, "Intel(R) Display Audio" and "Realtek High Definition Audio". Right click on them and select "properties" to see if they're working properly and also select, "update driver software".
If this doesn't help, I'll try something else :)
